Top 5 Finance Apps on Android in Africa for Q3 2023

During the third quarter of 2023, the top finance applications on the Android platform in Africa exhibited notable performance trends. Here’s a detailed look at their metrics sourced from Sensor Tower.

OPay - Cash rain , Airtime , Transfer , Savings saw a significant rise in weekly downloads, starting from 241K at the end of June and peaking at approximately 302K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users mirrored this growth, increasing steadily from around 1.38M to 1.70M over the same period.

PalmPay - Transfers, Bills also showed impressive performance with weekly downloads starting at around 164K in late June and reaching 160K by the end of September. The active user base for PalmPay grew from 1.11M to 1.18M within the quarter.

InstaPay Egypt experienced a consistent increase in weekly downloads, beginning at approximately 68K in late June and climbing to 127K by the end of September. Correspondingly, the weekly active users saw an upward trend from nearly 689K to over 1M during the quarter.

Capitec Bank showed varied download numbers, starting at 131K in late June, dipping mid-quarter, and then rising to 155K by the end of September. The active user count increased from 2.84M to nearly 3M throughout the quarter.

Lastly, MoMo demonstrated a growth in downloads from 64K in late June to around 108K by the end of September. Its weekly active users also grew significantly from 155K to approximately 280K over the same period.
