In the second quarter of 2023, the top 5 utilities applications on a unified platform in Africa showed varying trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at how each app performed based on Sensor Tower data.

Google experienced a stable number of weekly downloads, starting at approximately 62.9K at the end of March and peaking at around 70.2K in late April. By the end of June, downloads slightly dipped to 67.9K. Weekly active users fluctuated, starting at 147.5M and reaching a peak of 150M in mid-May before ending the quarter at 149.7M.

Google Chrome maintained a consistent download rate, beginning at 67.3K in late March and ending at 70K by the end of June. Active users showed a steady increase from 183.2M to 184.7M over the quarter.

Getcontact saw a notable rise in weekly revenue, peaking at around $3.1K in the last week of June. Downloads also showed significant growth, starting at 121.3K in late March and reaching a high of 309.9K in late May before settling at 133.7K by the end of June. Active users increased from 281.8K to 363.6K during the quarter.

Xender:File Share,Share Music had a high download rate at the beginning of the quarter with 232.3K, peaking at 266.4K in early April, and then gradually declining to 174K by the end of June. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 1.86M and ending at 1.91M.

Truecaller: Caller ID Blocker showed a consistent weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $36.9K in late April. Downloads started at 365.9K in late March and peaked at 448.2K in early May, ending at 403.9K by the end of June. Active users increased from 41.3M to 42.4M throughout the quarter.
