In the second quarter of 2023, the top five news applications on the iOS platform in the United States demonstrated notable trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the performance of each app.

X from X Corp. saw significant fluctuations in its weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $579K in the week of May 8. Weekly downloads showed a consistent upward trend, reaching around 328K in early May, and weekly active users remained relatively stable, closing the quarter with about 31.3M users.

Reddit experienced a peak in revenue with $638K in the week of April 10. Downloads spiked in late April to 335K but generally hovered around 190K to 290K throughout the quarter. Active users had a slight increase, ending the quarter with approximately 11.6M users.

Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network maintained a steady download rate, peaking at 83K in mid-June. Active users fluctuated slightly, closing the quarter with around 2.99M users. Notably, the app did not generate any revenue during this period.

NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts saw a moderate increase in downloads, peaking at 84K in mid-April. Active users remained stable, averaging around 2.2M throughout the quarter. Similar to Nextdoor, NewsBreak did not report any revenue during this period.

Police Scanner Radio & Fire had a noticeable spike in downloads, reaching about 73K in late May. The app's revenue peaked at $39K in late March, and active users saw a peak of 268K in the week of May 22 before declining to 183K by the end of June.
