In the first quarter of 2023, the finance app landscape in Ghana saw notable trends across the top 5 apps: RapidCedi-Credit cash loan, NewLoan, PalmPay Ghana, Datescash, and Fido - Online Loans App, Ghana. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

RapidCedi-Credit cash loan experienced significant fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 299.6K in mid-January and seeing a notable drop to 14.5K by mid-March. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, peaking at around 372K at the end of January and then gradually declining to 248.1K by the end of March.

NewLoan also exhibited varying download numbers, starting strong with 92.6K downloads in late December and reaching a high of 345.3K in late January. By the end of March, downloads had decreased to 49.4K. Weekly active users saw a peak of approximately 406.7K in late January, followed by a steady decline to 276.7K by the end of March.

PalmPay Ghana showed an interesting pattern in downloads, with a significant spike to 347.4K in mid-February. However, downloads dropped sharply to just over 3K by the end of March. Active users peaked at 662.1K in mid-February, but saw a decline to 273.6K by the end of the quarter.

Datescash saw an initial steady increase in downloads, reaching 96.7K in the first week of March before tapering off to 51.8K by the end of the month. Active users followed a similar upward trend, peaking at around 175.9K in mid-March and slightly decreasing to 165.4K by the end of the quarter.

Finally, Fido - Online Loans App, Ghana maintained a relatively steady download rate, starting the year with 32.1K downloads and experiencing a slight drop to 13.4K by the end of March. Active users peaked at 391.3K in early January and gradually decreased to 244.4K by the end of the quarter.
