In the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 education apps in Africa demonstrated varied trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Duolingo: Language Lessons started the quarter with a promising weekly revenue of around $36.7K, but experienced a gradual decline, ending March with approximately $15.4K. Weekly downloads peaked at over 203K in early January and saw a steady decrease, reaching just over 101K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated, peaking at 712K in late January before declining to around 583K in the last week of March.

Scientific calculator plus 991 showed modest revenue, peaking at $27 in late February. Weekly downloads were highest in early January at over 61K but dropped to around 38K by the end of March. Active users remained relatively stable, with a peak of approximately 1.27M in early March, ending the quarter with about 1.17M.

Bebek Game: Kids Games saw consistent weekly downloads, starting at over 53K and ending March with just under 35K. Active users showed a slight decline from around 305K at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 265K by the end of March.
