During the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 shopping applications on the Android platform in Venezuela showed varied performance in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue. Here, we take a closer look at the trends observed for Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace, SHEIN-Shopping Online, AliExpress - Shopping App, Mercado Libre: Compras online, and Amazon Shopping.

Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace saw its weekly downloads fluctuate throughout Q1 2023. The app experienced a peak in downloads of around 65K in mid-March, followed by a drop to approximately 40K by the end of March. Active users also showed an upward trend, increasing from about 249K at the start of January to around 415K by mid-March, before dropping to 364K at the end of the quarter.

SHEIN-Shopping Online enjoyed a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting from roughly 17K at the end of December and reaching a peak of about 59K in mid-March. The number of active users also saw a steady rise, beginning at 331K in late December and peaking at 534K in mid-March, before slightly declining to 507K by the end of the quarter.

AliExpress - Shopping App had a notable spike in downloads, particularly in the week of March 20, when it reached approximately 135K. Prior to this, downloads hovered between 3K and 14K. Active users also increased significantly during this period, from around 62K at the start of the quarter to a peak of 195K in mid-March, before settling at 150K by the end of March.

Mercado Libre: Compras online maintained consistent download numbers throughout the quarter, starting at around 10K in late December and peaking at approximately 21K in mid-March. The app's active user base remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 457K and 483K over the quarter.

Amazon Shopping demonstrated a steady performance in downloads, ranging from roughly 3K to 4K throughout Q1 2023. The app's weekly revenue showed a gradual increase, starting from $2 at the end of December and reaching $7 by the end of March. Active users were consistent, starting at about 84K and peaking at 92K in mid-March, before ending the quarter at around 86K.
