Top Finance Apps on Android in Australia - Q1 2023

Throughout the first quarter of 2023, the top finance applications on the Android platform in Australia showed varying trends in downloads and active user engagement. Here, we delve into the performance of the leading five apps: Google Wallet, CommBank, PayPal - Send, Shop, Manage, Ubank Money App, and ANZ Plus.

Google Wallet saw a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting the quarter with around 22K weekly downloads and peaking at 28.8K in mid-January. Downloads then dipped to a low of 18.1K by the end of January but recovered to approximately 24.7K in March. Active users for the app increased steadily, beginning at 158K and reaching a high of 185K in late February before slightly fluctuating to end the quarter at 176K.

CommBank maintained a relatively stable download rate, starting at 8K and peaking at 10.9K in late February. Active users showed consistent growth from 1.61M at the start of the quarter to 1.69M by the end of March.

PayPal - Send, Shop, Manage experienced a peak in downloads early in the quarter with 11.5K in the first week of January, followed by a gradual decline to 7.8K by the end of March. Despite the drop in downloads, weekly active users remained robust, fluctuating around the 400K mark and ending the quarter slightly higher at 414K.

The Ubank Money App showed significant growth in downloads, particularly in March, where it peaked at 11.8K. Active users also exhibited a positive trend, increasing from 53K at the start of the quarter to 70K by the end of March.

Finally, ANZ Plus demonstrated a steady decline in downloads from 8K at the beginning of January to 5K by the end of March. However, active user numbers grew consistently from 29.5K to 41.7K over the same period.
