Top 5 Shopping Apps Performance in Nigeria Q4 2022

The fourth quarter of 2022 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 shopping apps on a unified platform in Nigeria. Here’s a closer look at how each app fared in terms of weekly downloads and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Jumia Online Shopping experienced a notable peak in weekly downloads, reaching approximately 96K in the final week of October. This was followed by a gradual decline, ending the quarter with around 18.7K downloads in the last week of December. Active users for the app showed a similar trend, peaking at over 1.1M at the end of October and decreasing to about 616K by the end of December.

AliExpress - Shopping App maintained a relatively stable download rate throughout the quarter, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 26K and 38K. The app saw its highest active users count at around 185K in early November, before stabilizing around 159K towards the end of December.

Jiji Nigeria showed a significant increase in weekly downloads towards the end of the quarter, peaking at approximately 44K in the final week of December. Active users for Jiji Nigeria also saw a consistent rise, starting at around 342K at the beginning of the quarter and reaching over 403K by the end of December.

MAKA, a newer entrant, showed varied weekly download numbers, peaking at around 17.7K in early December before dropping to about 8.5K in the last week of December.

CDcare had a more fluctuating download trend, with downloads peaking at around 9.6K in mid-October and ending the quarter with about 5.7K in the final week of December. Active users for CDcare remained relatively stable, averaging around 40K throughout the quarter.
