The fourth quarter of 2022 saw varied performance trends among the top 5 shopping apps in Africa, with data provided by Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at their weekly downloads, active users, and revenue where applicable.

Amazon Shopping experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, starting strong with 686K in early October but dipping to lows around 159K in December. However, there was a notable rebound to nearly 498K by the last week of December. The app's active user base remained relatively stable, ranging from 2.4M to 2.9M. Revenue saw a significant spike towards the end of the quarter, peaking at approximately $44 in the final week.

Jumia Online Shopping saw a peak in downloads at the end of October with 771K. However, weekly downloads gradually decreased to 111K by the end of December. Active users followed a similar pattern, peaking at over 4.7M in late October and then declining to around 2.4M by the end of the quarter.

Alibaba.com maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter, fluctuating between 170K and 301K. Active users remained stable, ranging from 3.0M to 3.3M, with a slight dip in mid-December.

SHEIN - Shopping Online had steady weekly downloads early in the quarter, peaking at 165K in early November. However, downloads declined to around 69K by the end of December. Active users also saw a decrease, starting at 1.4M in late September and dropping to just over 1.0M by the end of the quarter.

noon Shopping, Food, Grocery exhibited a strong increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 233K in late November. Downloads then decreased to 85K by the end of December. Active users followed an upward trend, reaching a high of 1.2M in late November before settling at around 810K by the end of the quarter.
