The third quarter of 2022 saw varied performance trends for the top five travel applications in the Middle East on a unified platform. Here's a closer look at how Booking.com: Hotels & Travel, Uber - Request a ride, Bolt: Request a Ride, Careem – rides, food & more, and Google Earth performed.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a decline in weekly downloads throughout the quarter, starting from approximately 58K at the end of June and dropping to about 37K by the end of September. Active users also saw a similar downward trend, peaking at around 1.25M in early August and decreasing to roughly 1M by the end of the quarter.
Uber - Request a ride showed a relatively stable performance in weekly downloads, with numbers hovering around 61K to 71K throughout the quarter. Active users remained consistent, fluctuating slightly around 1.5M, with minor peaks and troughs.
Bolt: Request a Ride had a notable spike in downloads mid-July, reaching nearly 53K, but generally maintained a steady range of 41K to 59K for the rest of the quarter. Active users for Bolt saw a gradual increase, from approximately 193K at the end of June to around 210K by the end of September.
Careem – rides, food & more had a fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting at about 49K in late June and ending with a peak of around 51K in the last week of September. Active users for Careem were relatively stable, ranging from around 575K to 655K, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.
Google Earth saw a significant spike in downloads in late August, reaching approximately 159K. However, the rest of the quarter maintained a more modest range from around 26K to 40K. Active users for Google Earth showed a slight decline overall, starting at about 631K and ending at approximately 625K by the end of September.
