In the third quarter of 2022, the leading navigation applications on iOS in Africa exhibited diverse performance patterns. Here, we break down the weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends for the top 5 apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with consistent weekly downloads, starting at around 39.5K in late June and peaking at approximately 45.7K by the end of August. Active users showed a similar trend, beginning at 2.7M and witnessing a gradual increase to over 2.9M by early August, before stabilizing around 2.7M towards the end of September.

Radarbot: Speed Cameras | GPS saw notable fluctuations in its weekly revenue, starting at around $349 and peaking at $1.5K in early August. Weekly downloads had a peak of approximately 9K in mid-July, with active users reaching a high of around 13K in mid-August. The app's revenue and downloads showed a decline towards the end of the quarter, with revenue dropping to $922 and downloads to around 4.6K.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showcased stable weekly downloads throughout the quarter, averaging around 4.5K to 5K. Active users remained consistent as well, hovering around 260K to 270K. Despite no revenue generation, the app maintained a steady user base, indicating strong engagement.

Active users showed a gradual increase, starting at approximately 21.6K in late June and reaching up to 22.7K by early September.
