During the second quarter of 2022, the top five news apps on iOS in Russia showed varied performance across downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s an overview based on data from Sensor Tower.

РБК Новости experienced a notable increase in weekly revenue, starting from approximately $577 at the end of March and peaking at around $5K by the end of June. Downloads, however, showed a gradual decline from 4.8K to 2.1K over the same period. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 17.4K and 21.3K.

Ведомости — vedomosti saw fluctuating revenue, peaking at around $1.3K in mid-April before dropping to negligible levels by the end of June. Downloads remained low, averaging around 70 per week. Active users also saw a slight decline, from 412 at the end of March to 278 by the end of June.

Medium: Read & Write Stories had a steady revenue stream, with weekly earnings ranging between $178 and $325. Weekly downloads were relatively stable, peaking at 1.1K at the end of May. Active users increased slightly, from 4.5K to 5.4K during the quarter.

The Wall Street Journal. showed consistent revenue, with weekly figures around $200, peaking at $255 at the end of June. Downloads remained low, averaging around 130 per week. Active users showed a small decline, from 617 to 493 over the quarter.

The Economist - News, Podcasts had stable revenue, ranging between $64 and $226 weekly. Downloads remained modest, peaking at 280 in early May. Active users decreased from 735 at the end of March to 459 by the end of June.
