Top 5 Shopping Apps on Android in Africa Q2 2022

The second quarter of 2022 provided interesting insights into the performance of the top 5 shopping apps on the Android platform in Africa. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, reveals trends in weekly downloads and active users for these popular applications.

JUMIA Online Shopping saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 293K at the end of March and peaking at around 438K in early June. The weekly active users also showed a general upward trend, growing from about 3.25M to 3.77M over the quarter.

Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace experienced fluctuations in its weekly downloads. Starting the quarter with approximately 165K downloads, it saw a peak of around 317K by the end of June. The weekly active users steadily increased from around 2.17M to approximately 2.77M during the same period.

Amazon Shopping maintained a relatively stable download rate throughout Q2 2022, with numbers hovering around 160K to 220K. The weekly active users showed a gradual increase, starting at about 1.73M and reaching approximately 1.92M by the end of June.

SHEIN-Shopping Online experienced a decline in weekly downloads, from around 110K at the beginning of the quarter to about 75K by the end. However, the weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around the 800K mark.

noon Shopping, Food, Grocery saw a noticeable decline in its weekly downloads, starting at approximately 88K and dropping to around 39K by the end of June. Similarly, the weekly active users decreased from about 780K to approximately 648K during the same period.
