In the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 travel applications in the Middle East demonstrated notable trends in downloads and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at how each app performed on a unified platform:

Uber - Request a ride saw its weekly downloads fluctuate throughout the quarter, starting at around 57K in late December and experiencing a dip in mid-January to 40K. Downloads then picked up, peaking at approximately 65K in early March. Active users for the app showed a steady increase, rising from 1.35M at the end of December to around 1.44M by the end of March.

Bolt: Request a Ride had a significant spike in downloads at the end of January, reaching over 156K. Prior to this, weekly downloads hovered around 20K-30K, and after the spike, they stabilized between 26K and 32K. Active users mirrored this trend, with a notable increase to 223K at the end of January before settling around 150K for the rest of the quarter.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel maintained a consistent download rate, starting at 36K in late December and peaking at 50K in early March. Active users rose steadily from around 910K at the end of December to over 1M by the end of March, demonstrating a consistent growth pattern.

Careem – rides, food & more experienced a gradual increase in downloads, starting at approximately 47K in late December and rising to about 54K by the end of March. Active users also showed an upward trend, starting at 744K and reaching 747K by the end of the quarter.

Expo 2020 Dubai saw a significant increase in downloads in mid-February, peaking at around 42K in late March. Active users also increased, starting at 79K at the end of December and peaking at around 120K in late March.
