In Q1 2022, the top travel apps in Egypt demonstrated significant activity, with varying trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of DiDi Rider: Affordable rides, inDrive. Save on city rides, Uber - Request a ride, Swvl - Daily Bus Rides, and Careem – rides, food & more.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides experienced a notable decrease in weekly downloads, starting with over 1M at the end of December 2021 and dropping to around 159K by the end of March 2022. Despite this, weekly active users saw a more stable trend, increasing from approximately 86K to around 164K by the end of Q1.
inDrive. Save on city rides maintained a more consistent performance in weekly downloads, ranging from around 84K to 125K throughout the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable as well, starting at 311K and ending at approximately 346K.
Uber - Request a ride saw a gradual increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 40K and reaching nearly 43K by the end of March. The number of active users also showed growth, starting at 972K and peaking at approximately 1.15M in the final week of the quarter.
Swvl - Daily Bus Rides had a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, with numbers ranging from 32K to 72K. Active users showed an overall increase, beginning at 92K and rising to around 133K by the end of March.
Finally, Careem – rides, food & more exhibited a steady trend in weekly downloads, with figures hovering around 7K to 11K. Active users saw a slight decline at the beginning but recovered to end the quarter with approximately 345K users.
