In the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 news applications in Latin America exhibited diverse trends across downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at the performance of these apps based on data from Sensor Tower.

X from X Corp. saw a notable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $637 in the week of March 21. Weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of around 838K in the week of February 21. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 50.4M at the end of December and finishing at 52.3M by the end of March.

Reddit from reddit showed consistent weekly revenue, with a peak of about $664 in the week of March 7. Downloads varied, with a high of approximately 231K in early January and a significant surge to 216K in the last week of March. Active users increased from around 1.94M at the end of December to nearly 2.25M by the end of March.

Google News from Google maintained steady download numbers, peaking at around 22.8K in the week of March 21. Active users saw growth, starting from 5.73M at the end of December and reaching about 6.74M by the end of March.

Spotify for Podcasters from Spotify experienced a sharp rise in downloads, peaking at approximately 376K in the week of March 14. Active users also increased significantly, from 507K at the end of December to 754K by mid-March, before settling at around 606K by the end of the quarter.

BBC: World News & Stories from BBC Studios Distribution Ltd. had a notable spike in downloads, reaching around 18.5K in the week of February 21. Active users grew from 58.9K at the end of December to about 83.7K by the end of February, before stabilizing around 65.7K at the end of March.
