In the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 news applications in Ghana displayed diverse trends in downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.

X exhibited a consistent download rate, starting with approximately 22.6K downloads in the last week of December 2021 and peaking at 26.5K in mid-January. The weekly downloads then saw a gradual decline, ending the quarter at around 20.7K. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around 1.1M throughout the quarter. Revenue for X was modest, with a peak of $7 in the week of January 17.

Opera News: Breaking & Local experienced a significant spike in downloads at the beginning of January, reaching 48.2K. However, this was followed by a decline, with downloads dropping to about 13.2K by the end of March. The app's active user base also saw fluctuations, starting at 757.8K and peaking at 896.6K in the first week of January before stabilizing around 651.8K by the end of the quarter.

Clubhouse had a steady, albeit modest, download rate, beginning with 1.4K downloads in late December and maintaining similar levels throughout Q1, ending with approximately 1.9K downloads. The app's active users showed a steady increase, starting at 10.4K and reaching 14.3K by the end of March.

RadioApp - A Simple Radio maintained a consistent download rate, beginning with 262 downloads and peaking at 500 downloads in multiple weeks throughout the quarter. The number of active users also showed steady growth, starting at 1.3K and ending Q1 at approximately 1.7K. Revenue for RadioApp peaked at $13 in the week of January 24.

Quora saw its downloads rise from 1.4K in late December to a peak of 3.2K in late January, before stabilizing around 2.1K by the end of March. Active users for Quora increased from 44.6K to a peak of 53.6K in mid-March, ending the quarter at 51.6K.
