Top 5 Navigation Apps in Spain Q4 2021: Performance Insights

The final quarter of 2021 saw significant activity in Spain's navigation app market. Here, we dive into the performance of the top five navigation apps: Google Maps, SpTH, Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, Moovit: All Transit Options, and Telpark. Data for this analysis is sourced from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps saw a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting strong with over 63K in late September but dropping to around 37.8K by the end of December. Active users also showed some variability, peaking at approximately 5.2M in mid-October and ending the quarter at around 4.8M.

SpTH experienced a mixed quarter. Weekly downloads saw a notable increase from roughly 6.9K in late September to a peak of about 13.8K in early December, before tapering off to around 7K by the end of the year. Active users followed a similar trend, growing from about 9.6K to a peak of nearly 16.4K in early December, then declining to around 9.6K by the end of December.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a relatively stable download rate throughout the quarter, with a significant spike to over 52K in mid-December. Active user numbers fluctuated but remained strong, peaking at around 575K in early November and closing the quarter at approximately 501K.

Moovit: All Transit Options showed a consistent download trend, with weekly figures hovering around 19K for most of the quarter, dropping to about 13K by the end of December. Active users varied, peaking at about 219K in early October and ending the quarter at approximately 133K.

Telpark had a steady performance in weekly downloads, ranging from around 9.2K to 14.4K. Active user numbers remained relatively stable throughout the period, averaging around 48K.
