Top 5 MOBA Apps Performance in Africa Q4 2021

In Q4 2021, the top 5 MOBA applications in Africa showed varied performance in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Based on data from Sensor Tower, here’s a closer look at each app's performance.

Arena of Valor saw a significant rise in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 9.5K at the end of September and peaking at nearly 59.5K by the last week of December. This increase in downloads was mirrored by a rise in weekly revenue, which grew from $97 to about $306 over the same period. The weekly active users also followed an upward trend, growing from 22.6K to 86.2K.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang maintained a steady performance with weekly downloads ranging between 13.6K and 23.8K. The weekly revenue showed notable fluctuations, peaking at around $27.9K in early November and ending the quarter at approximately $14.8K. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 407.7K and 473K throughout the quarter.

Brawl Stars experienced consistent weekly downloads, with figures ranging from 9.1K to 20K. The game’s weekly revenue also showed some variability, peaking at $10.4K in mid-December. The active users count remained stable, hovering around the 190K to 205K mark for most of the quarter.

Pokémon UNITE, a newer entry, showed a downward trend in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 30.3K and dropping to 2.6K by the end of December. Weekly revenue followed a similar pattern, decreasing from $3.2K to about $622. Active users also declined, dropping from 39.8K to 16.5K over the quarter.

Thetan Arena: MOBA Survival, another recent addition, saw a strong increase in weekly downloads, rising from 1.1K in late November to 27.3K by the end of December. The weekly revenue showed a consistent increase as well, starting at $2 and reaching $503. The active users grew impressively from 842 to 28.7K in the same period.
