Throughout Q4 2021, the top five travel apps on iOS in the United Arab Emirates showcased varied trends in downloads and active users. Below, we explore the performance of these apps based on data from Sensor Tower.

Expo 2020 Dubai saw impressive weekly downloads, starting at approximately 38.6K and peaking at nearly 40.8K by the end of October. However, downloads tapered off towards the end of the quarter, finishing at around 11.9K in the last week of December. Active users for the app grew steadily, from 31.3K at the end of September to a peak of 85.1K in mid-December, before dropping slightly to 73.3K by the end of the year.

Careem – rides, food & more maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter, ranging from around 4.6K to 6.2K per week. Active users fluctuated during the quarter, starting at 63.5K, peaking at 65.4K in late November, and ending the year with approximately 61.7K active users.

Uber - Request a ride experienced consistent weekly downloads, with numbers oscillating between 3.3K and 4.5K. The app's active users remained robust throughout the quarter, starting at 114.4K and peaking at 128.6K towards the end of October. It concluded the year with around 118.2K active users.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel showed a stable download pattern, with weekly downloads ranging from 2.9K to 4.3K. Active users for the app started at 105.9K at the end of September, experienced a dip to 95.8K in early December, and ended the quarter at about 113.1K.

Finally, Google Earth had a more modest download rate compared to the other apps, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 1.5K and 2.7K. Active users for Google Earth started at 11.3K, peaked at 11.8K in early October, and finished the quarter at approximately 8.9K.
