The third quarter of 2021 saw notable trends in the performance of the top 5 shopping apps in South Africa, based on data from Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at the weekly downloads and active users for these apps.

SHEIN - Shopping Online experienced a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting from around 39.5K at the end of June and peaking at approximately 105.6K in the week of September 20. Weekly active users also grew steadily, beginning at 362.6K and reaching 456.3K by the end of September.

Takealot - Mobile Shopping App showed a consistent rise in weekly downloads, from 31.0K in late June to 51.8K by the last week of September. Active users fluctuated but remained robust, ending the quarter at 428.5K, up from 459.2K at the start.

Alibaba.com saw a gradual increase in weekly downloads, from 22.9K at the beginning of the quarter to 29.0K by the end of September. The app's active user base also grew, starting at 264.6K and reaching 321.0K in the final week of September.
