Top 5 Navigation Apps in Italy Q3 2021 Performance Review

In the third quarter of 2021, the top navigation apps in Italy showed varying trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a detailed look at how each app performed, based on Sensor Tower data.

Google Maps experienced a mixed trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 76K at the end of June and dropping to approximately 41K by the end of September. The app saw a peak in active users at nearly 7.6M in early August, although this number slightly declined to around 7.2M by the end of the quarter.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw an increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 41K in mid-August and then stabilizing to about 24K by the end of September. Active users for the app fluctuated throughout the quarter, with a high of approximately 1.35M in early August and settling at around 1.19M by the end of September.

Moovit: All Transit Options displayed a significant rise in weekly downloads, starting at around 28K in late June and reaching a peak of about 51K in mid-September. Active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at about 289K and reaching approximately 424K by mid-September, before slightly dropping to around 396K by the end of the quarter.

SpTH had a more stable performance, with weekly downloads ranging from around 5K at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 2.4K by the end of September. Active users saw minor fluctuations, peaking at around 7.3K in early August and decreasing to about 3.7K by the end of the quarter.

Finally, the ATM Milano Official App showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at about 4.5K in late June and reaching a peak of approximately 12.5K in mid-September. The number of active users also increased, from around 28K at the start of the quarter to about 38K by the end of September.
