Top 5 Navigation Apps in Australia Q3 2021 Performance

In the third quarter of 2021, the top navigation apps in Australia showed interesting trends in downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at the performance of these apps on a unified platform.

Google Maps saw a notable fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 30K in late June and peaking at around 37K by the end of September. Active users remained robust, starting at 2.13M and consistently staying above 2M throughout the quarter, peaking at around 2.18M.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced steady weekly downloads, generally hovering around the 11K to 14K range. Active users also showed a stable pattern, starting at approximately 553K and maintaining around 550K through the quarter.

Petrol Spy Australia had more variable download numbers, with a high of nearly 9K in late June and a low of around 2.8K at the end of August. Active users for this app fluctuated as well, starting at about 52K in late June and rounding off at around 42K by the end of September.

BPme showed consistent download activity, generally between 4.5K and 6K weekly. Active users started at around 15.6K in late June but saw a slight decline to approximately 12.8K by the end of September.

Geocaching® had a varied download trend, with a peak of around 5.6K in mid-July and a low of about 2K in late July. Revenue for Geocaching® was also notable, peaking at around $10.5K in early July and maintaining a range between $7.1K and $9.4K for the rest of the quarter. Active users saw a peak of around 6.5K in mid-July, with numbers generally staying above 3K.
