In the third quarter of 2021, the top five education applications in France demonstrated diverse trends in their performance metrics, including weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here is a closer look at how each app performed on a unified platform, combining data from both iOS and Android:

Babbel - Language Learning experienced a consistent rise in weekly revenue, starting from approximately $59K at the end of June and peaking at around $90K by mid-September. Weekly downloads also saw an upward trend, growing from about 9.5K in late June to nearly 15.7K by the end of September. The app maintained a steady number of active users, fluctuating between 65K to 68K throughout the quarter.

Duolingo - Language Lessons showed a robust increase in weekly revenue, starting at roughly $50K and reaching up to $78K by mid-September. Downloads surged significantly, particularly in the last week of September, where they jumped to 62.6K from an average of around 33K earlier in the quarter. Active users remained strong and consistent, hovering around the 550K to 590K mark.

PictureThis - Plant Identifier saw a gradual decline in weekly revenue, dropping from approximately $39K at the start of the quarter to around $23K by the end of September. Downloads followed a similar downward trend, decreasing from about 64K to 26.5K. Active users also decreased over the quarter, from 266K in late June to 185K by the end of September.

Toca Boca World experienced a rise in weekly revenue early in the quarter, peaking at around $58K in late August before declining to approximately $31K by the end of September. Downloads saw a steady increase initially, reaching about 38.8K in late August, but later stabilized around 27K towards the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 170K to 225K.

Simply Piano: Learn Piano Fast displayed a steady weekly revenue trend, starting at around $26K and peaking at approximately $30K by the end of September. Downloads showed growth in the latter part of the quarter, rising from about 8.4K in late August to 12.2K by the end of September. Active users remained consistent, ranging from 55K to 67K throughout the quarter.
