In the third quarter of 2021, the top five news apps on iOS in Belgium showed varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

X from X Corp. saw weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at around $39 in mid-September. Weekly downloads had an upward trend mid-quarter, reaching approximately 4.5K by the week of August 23, but tapered off towards the end of September, falling to around 3K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 350K throughout the quarter.

VRT NWS experienced a significant spike in weekly downloads in mid-July, reaching around 10K. However, this number dropped to a more consistent range of 2K to 3K for the remainder of the quarter. Weekly active users peaked in mid-July at roughly 116K but saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, settling around 99K.

Reddit showed a diverse revenue pattern, peaking at approximately $364 in mid-September. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 1.5K and 2.2K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users also displayed consistency, maintaining around 54K to 58K.

HLN from DPG Media saw a peak in weekly revenue in mid-July at around $18.1K. Weekly downloads were stable, averaging around 1.3K. Active users showed a slight downward trend from 180K in July to approximately 150K by the end of September.

Vlaams Belang, a new entry in the news category, had a notable start with weekly downloads peaking at around 10.5K in the week of September 20, before dropping to around 1.6K in the final week of the month.
