In the second quarter of 2021, the top 5 travel applications in Africa experienced varying trends in downloads and active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides a comprehensive overview of their performance on a unified platform.
Bolt: Request a Ride saw a consistent decrease in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 242K at the beginning of April to around 164K by the end of June. However, the app maintained a strong user base, with weekly active users increasing from 1.77M to over 2.12M during the same period.
Uber - Request a ride experienced a more stable trend in downloads, fluctuating between 82K and 103K weekly. The active user base showed a slight increase, from around 2.98M to over 3.12M by the end of Q2.
inDrive. Save on city rides showed a positive trend in weekly downloads, growing from approximately 103K in early April to nearly 194K by the end of June. Active users also saw an increase, starting from 576K and reaching over 663K during the same period.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads rose from around 23K to nearly 35K, while active users increased from 426K to over 510K.
