The second quarter of 2021 witnessed diverse performance trends among the top 5 navigation apps in Australia on a unified platform. Here’s a closer look at the weekly downloads and active users for each app during this period, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps maintained a steady presence in the Australian market. Weekly downloads fluctuated between 27K and 34K, peaking at 34K in the last week of June. Active users remained robust, though there was a slight decline from 2.38M at the start of the quarter to 2.13M by the end.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a downward trend in downloads, starting at approximately 24K in late March and dropping to 14K by the end of June. However, active users saw growth, increasing from 491K to 553K over the same period.

Petrol Spy Australia showed significant variability in downloads. The app saw a low of 3.7K in late May but rebounded to 8.9K by the end of June. Active users also rose from 49K to 52K during the quarter.

BPme had relatively stable download numbers, ranging from 6K to 7.6K throughout the quarter. Active users remained steady as well, fluctuating around 15K to 16K.

Moovit: All Transit Options experienced varying download figures, starting at 2.6K in late March, peaking at 4K in mid-June, and then falling to 2.5K by the end of the quarter. Active users fluctuated but ended the quarter slightly lower, decreasing from 7.7K to 7.8K.
