The second quarter of 2021 saw interesting trends in the usage of the top 5 navigation apps on iOS in New Zealand. Here’s a closer look at their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging between approximately 4.3K and 6K. The app peaked in downloads during the week of April 19 with around 6K installs. Active users remained steady, averaging around 385K, with a slight increase to nearly 407K in the week of April 19.

AT Mobile from Auckland Transport experienced consistent weekly downloads, hovering between 1K to 1.3K. The highest activity was noted in the week of April 19 with about 1.3K downloads. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly, averaging around 10K, peaking at 10.5K the same week.

BPme showed stable download numbers, ranging from 761 to 948 weekly downloads. The highest downloads were recorded in the week of April 12 with approximately 948 installs. However, data on active users were not available.

Find my Phone - Family Locator saw a significant increase in both revenue and downloads. Weekly revenue reached a peak of $295 during the week of April 26, while downloads surged to 732 in the week of June 14. Active users grew steadily from 199 at the start of the quarter to 789 by the end of June.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic had weekly downloads ranging from around 272 to 529, peaking in the week of May 3 with 529 downloads. Active users saw a notable increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching approximately 15.5K in the final week of June.
