In the first quarter of 2021, the Mobile Online Battle Arena (MOBA) category saw varying performances among the top applications in Latin America. Our data from Sensor Tower provides a snapshot of these trends across both iOS and Android platforms.
Supercell's Brawl Stars, hailing from Finland, saw its revenue fluctuate, starting at approximately $396K in the last week of December and dipping to around $191K in mid-January, before rebounding to nearly $400K in early February. Downloads followed a similar pattern, peaking at over 420K in late January and then gradually declining to around 281K by the end of March. Weekly active users remained strong, starting at 6.65M and experiencing a mid-quarter spike to nearly 6.93M before settling at around 6.56M.
Shanghai Moonton Technology’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang also experienced revenue fluctuations, with a peak of approximately $180K in early February. Downloads showed more consistency, with a significant rise to over 296K in the last week of March. The game’s weekly active users saw a steady increase from 2.32M to nearly 2.64M over the quarter.
Riot Games' League of Legends: Wild Rift, a relatively new entrant from the US, had varying revenue, with two weeks in March not generating revenue data. However, the game saw a significant surge in downloads, reaching over 6.31M at the end of March. The weekly active users reflected this growth, escalating from a few thousand to a massive 5.13M by the quarter’s end.
Heroes Evolved, by NetDragon Websoft Inc of China, showed modest revenue figures, peaking at nearly $9.5K in early February. Downloads and weekly active users both demonstrated a downward trend, ending the quarter at around 1.5K downloads and 7.7K weekly active users.
Lastly, Arena of Valor, also from a Chinese publisher, Level Infinite, witnessed its highest revenue at the start of the quarter with around $40K, which later declined to approximately $13K by the end of March. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around the 10K mark, and weekly active users decreased modestly from 123K to 91.6K.
