Top 5 Dating Apps on iOS in Australia: Q1 2021 Performance Overview

The first quarter of 2021 has been an interesting period for dating apps on the iOS platform in Australia. With data sourced from Sensor Tower, let's dive into the performance of the top five dating applications during this time.

Tinder: Chat, Dating & Friends, published by Tinder Inc. from the US, showed a revenue trend that peaked in late January at approximately $684K before a slight decline to around $566K by the end of March. Downloads for Tinder began at around 12K in the last week of December and saw a general downtrend to approximately 10K by March's end. Weekly active users fluctuated, starting at 923K, dipping to 857K in early January, and then bouncing back to around 884K by the quarter's close.

Next up is Bumble: Dating & Friends App by Bumble Holding Limited, also based in the US. Bumble's revenue started at roughly $192K and saw a high of $217K in the first week of January, stabilizing to about $190K by March 29th. The app's downloads started at nearly 7.5K, with a general decline to just over 5K towards the end of the quarter. Active weekly users saw a slight increase from 191K to 200K over the period.

Hinge Dating App: Match & Date from Hinge, Inc. showed a revenue pattern that hovered around $60K to $74K, ending the quarter on a high note at roughly $69K. Downloads for Hinge were stable, starting at around 5.8K and finishing the quarter at about 5.7K. Interestingly, weekly active users were on an upward trend, starting at 122K and climbing to 132K before settling at 127K.

Plenty of Fish Dating App, by the Canadian publisher PlentyOfFish, had its revenue begin at about $68K and decline to around $48K by the quarter's end. Downloads showed a slight decline from 3.4K to just under 3K. Active users had a more noticeable drop from 31K to 26K in the last week of March.

Lastly, Zoosk - Social Dating App from Zoosk, Inc. saw its revenue start at approximately $49K, dipping to around $42K, and then ending at about $37K. Downloads began at 1.3K, with a small peak at 1.5K in mid-January, and finished the quarter at around 1.2K. Weekly active users for Zoosk remained quite stable, starting at 5.7K and ending the quarter just slightly lower at 5.3K.
