Europe's book lovers have been actively engaging with their favorite reading and audiobook apps on iOS in the first quarter of 2021. Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look at how the top 5 books applications have performed during this period.

Storytel: Audiobooks & Ebooks, a popular choice from Sweden, showed a consistent revenue trend, with a peak of nearly $255K in late February. Downloads started strong at 43K in the first week of January but saw a gradual decline to 31K by the end of March. Weekly active users remained robust, starting at around 504K and reaching a high of over 537K in late March.

Russia's Litres: Books and audiobooks also had a solid quarter, with revenue starting at around $119K and climbing to $193K in the first week of January, then settling at $171K by the end of March. The app experienced a surge in downloads in the first week of January with 33K but saw a decrease to 23K by March's end. Active users hovered just under 200K in early January, dipping slightly to 177K by the quarter's close.

Another Russian app, MyBook: books and audiobooks, showed an interesting pattern in revenue, with a notable increase to $107K in late February, followed by a drop to around $72K by the end of March. Downloads peaked at 33K in early January, with a downward trend to 17K by the end of March. Weekly active users saw a slight decrease from 97K in early January to 84K in late March.

Singapore's Dreame - Read Best Romance had a mixed quarter with revenue starting at around $94K, dipping to $73K in late February, then spiking to nearly $97K by the end of March. Downloads saw a decline from 11K at the end of December to around 6.5K by March's close. Active users saw a low of 41K in late February but ended the quarter on a positive note with 47K.

Lastly, Litres: Audio from Russia showed a consistent performance in revenue, with a high of $59K in mid-February. Downloads peaked at 7K in early January and fell to just over 4.5K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 38K in late December and ending the quarter at around 34K.
