Top 5 Shopping Apps on Android in the US: Q1 2021 Trends

The first quarter of 2021 has been eventful for the shopping category on the Android platform in the United States. Data from Sensor Tower provides a glimpse into the performance of the top five shopping applications during this period.

The most rewarding way to Shop by Shopify Inc. saw a slight decrease in downloads from 190K in the last week of December to around 187K by the end of March. Weekly active users showed more fluctuation, peaking at 1.64M in late February before settling at approximately 1.6M by the end of March.

Amazon Shopping experienced a downtrend in downloads, starting at 212K and decreasing to 143K by the end of Q1. However, the app maintained a high number of weekly active users, with a slight drop from 10M to 9.3M over the quarter.

Walmart: Shopping & Savings also witnessed a decrease in downloads from 214K to 143K. The weekly active users for Walmart showed a slight decline from 5.3M at the beginning of the period to 4.7M by the end of March.

Wish: Shop and Save downloads decreased from 162K to around 146K, while weekly active users saw a minimal decrease from 1.77M to 1.65M during the quarter.

Lastly, Mercari: Buy and Sell App showed a varied trend with downloads peaking at 150K in early February and then falling to 66K by the end of March. Weekly active users peaked at 1.43M in late February and saw a decrease to 1.41M by the quarter's end.
