In the first quarter of 2021, the auto application category on Android saw varied performances among its top contenders in the United States. Data gathered by Sensor Tower offers insights into the trends and metrics of these leading apps.

FIXD OBD2 Scanner experienced a consistent rise in downloads, starting at about 4.5K in the last week of December 2020 and peaking at approximately 7K in early March. Weekly active users had a notable increase in mid-March, jumping from around 3.5K to over 7K. Revenue for the app followed a similar upward trend, with earnings climbing from about $20K to over $40K towards the end of the quarter.

AlfaOBD also witnessed growth, particularly in revenue which surged from roughly $3K to $9K in the span of the quarter. Downloads for the app peaked in mid-March with over 400, reaching a high compared to the starting point of around 160. Unfortunately, weekly active users data for AlfaOBD was not available.

The Carly — OBD2 car scanner showed modest download numbers that fluctuated between 200 and 300 throughout the quarter. Revenue saw a significant rise in late February, jumping from about $2K to $6K. Lastly, DMV Permit Practice Test Genie demonstrated strong download numbers, rising from about 1.8K to over 4K by the end of March. Revenue followed a steady climb, ending the quarter at roughly $2K. The app's weekly active users saw a significant boost in mid-March, jumping from around 2.7K to 5K.
