In the first quarter of 2021, the automotive app category witnessed some interesting trends among the top Android applications in Europe. Data provided by Sensor Tower reveals how these apps performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Carly — OBD2 car scanner saw a steady revenue trend, starting at approximately $32K in the last week of December and peaking at nearly $41K in mid-February before settling back to around $31K by the end of March. The app experienced a high of 3.8K downloads in the second week of February and maintained a strong user base, with weekly active users peaking at 7.3K in the same month.

Carista OBD2 also showed a positive revenue trend, with earnings growing from around $7.7K to nearly $9.9K in late March. The app's downloads reached a high of 3.3K in early February, while weekly active users saw a slight decline from 3.9K to 3.7K over the quarter.

For BimmerCode for BMW and MINI, revenue fluctuated, hitting a high of around $10K in late February. Downloads dipped to a low of 1.3K by the end of March, and weekly active users decreased slightly from 2.4K to 2.3K.

Weekly active users showcased significant growth, from 64.5K at the end of December to over 86K in mid-March, before a small drop to 83K by the quarter's end.
