As the year 2020 came to a close, the lifestyle app category witnessed varied performances among the top contenders in Europe. Utilizing data from Sensor Tower, we take a closer look at how these apps fared in the fourth quarter.
Tinder: Chat, Dating & Friends maintained a steady pace in revenue, ending the quarter with around $5.3M. Downloads peaked in mid-November at approximately 391K but saw a significant increase to nearly 395K by the end of December. Weekly active users showed a declining trend from 14.4M to 13.6M over the quarter.
Badoo: Dating. Chat. Friends, another popular choice, ended the quarter with a slight increase in revenue, reaching $900K. Downloads experienced a gradual decrease from about 390K to 351K, followed by a rise to roughly 351K in the last week of December. The app's weekly active users saw a slight decline from 9.6M to 9.4M.
The revenue for Bumble: Dating & Friends App showed fluctuations but ended the quarter relatively stable at around $400K. Downloads saw an upward trend with a high point of approximately 92K in the last week of December. Weekly active users fluctuated, eventually closing the quarter at nearly 1.8M.
Happn — Dating app saw its revenue hover around the $300K to $365K range throughout the quarter. Downloads decreased from about 91K to around 70K, with weekly active users also showing a downward trend, finishing at 1.77M in the last week of December.
Lastly, LOVOO - Dating App & Chat App ended the quarter with revenue increasing slightly to over $500K. Downloads showed an initial increase but settled around 85K towards the end of December. Weekly active users declined marginally from 1.87M to 1.65M.
