Top 5 Auto Applications in Latin America: Q4 2020 Overview

The auto application sector in Latin America has shown various trends in the fourth quarter of 2020. With data provided by Sensor Tower, we're able to take a closer look at the performance of the top auto apps on the unified platform, which includes both iOS and Android metrics.

Android Auto, published by Google LLC, witnessed its downloads fluctuating in Q4, starting at approximately 31K in the last week of September and dipping to around 24K by late November. However, it slightly increased again to roughly 26K by the end of December. The weekly active users showed a declining trend from about 3.2M at the start of the quarter to 2.5M by the end of December.

Android Auto for phone screens, also from Google LLC, experienced a similar pattern in downloads, initiating the quarter with around 17K and ending with approximately 16K. The weekly active users remained relatively stable, with a minor increase from 3.5K to 4.2K over the quarter.

For Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by 0vZ, the app not only saw a consistent increase in downloads from 8K to over 11K but also a rise in revenue, starting at $254 and reaching $345 by the end of December. The weekly active users grew from around 14K to nearly 18K.

JSC Legion-Autodata's MotorData OBD ELM car scanner showed an interesting pattern with downloads peaking at 9.8K in the week of October 19th and then again at 9.2K in mid-December. Revenue also saw an increase, from $96 to $71 over the quarter. Weekly active users had a notable rise from 119K to 137K.

Lastly, Autolink maintained steady downloads throughout the quarter, starting at approximately 7.5K and rising to 9K. Despite having no reported revenue, the app's weekly active users showed an upward trend, from 10.5K to over 12.6K.
