As the year 2020 came to a close, the auto app market in Brazil showcased interesting trends in user engagement and downloads. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a snapshot of how the top auto applications performed in the fourth quarter of the year.
Drivvo - car management, a native Brazilian app, exhibited consistent growth in weekly active users, climbing from 16K in late September to over 17K by the end of December. Downloads fluctuated but showed an overall upward trend, peaking at around 2.8K in the last week of December. Revenue saw a significant increase, starting at a few hundred dollars at the beginning of the quarter and ending with $340 in the final week.
The Russian-developed Car Scanner ELM OBD2 saw a similar pattern, with weekly active users rising from 4.5K to nearly 4.8K. The app's downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight uptick in December reaching around 2.6K. Revenue also showed a healthy increase, jumping from under $100 to $154 by the end of Q4.
From Israel, Carista OBD2 had a more variable quarter. The app's downloads started from zero at the beginning of October and grew to 313 by the end of December. Active users saw a gradual increase from 31 to 192 over the quarter. Revenue patterns were somewhat erratic but ended on a high note with $189 in the last week of December.
Carly — OBD2 car scanner, hailing from Germany, had a modest presence in the Brazilian market with negligible download numbers. However, weekly active users' data was not available, and revenue figures showed some volatility, with the highest point at $224 in the third week of October and closing the quarter with $146.
It's worth noting that the data for BimmerCode for BMW and MINI presented a different scenario. With minimal downloads and no data on weekly active users, it's challenging to draw conclusions on its Q4 performance.
