In the final quarter of 2020, Europe's Android users showed their preference for shopping apps, with notable trends in downloads and active users. Here's a snapshot of how the top five shopping apps performed according to Sensor Tower data.
Wish: Shop and Save experienced a surge in downloads, peaking at approximately 850K in late November, before ending the quarter with about 542K downloads. Weekly active users followed a similar trajectory, climbing to a high of 8M users in the same period.
AliExpress maintained a steady download rate, beginning the quarter at just over 500K and closing with around 519K downloads. The app's weekly active users reached a high of nearly 28M in November, reflecting a significant spike in user engagement.
Amazon Shopping saw its downloads fluctuate, with a high of approximately 600K in early December, and weekly active users mirrored this pattern, reaching over 22M in late November.
Lidl Plus kicked off the quarter with over 548K downloads, but experienced a dip to around 260K by the year's end. The app's active user count saw a peak of approximately 4.5M in November, before ending the quarter with over 4.1M users.
SHEIN-Shopping Online downloads showed a decrease from nearly 450K at the start of the quarter to about 425K in the final week. The weekly active users for SHEIN peaked at around 5.9M in November, before closing the quarter with just under 4.8M users.
