Q4 2020 Performance of Top Shopping Apps on Android in Australia

As the fourth quarter of 2020 came to a close, the performance of the top shopping applications on the Android platform in Australia revealed interesting trends in consumer behavior. Here we take a closer look at the download figures and weekly active users for these leading apps, courtesy of insights from Sensor Tower.

The most rewarding way to Shop by Shopify Inc. saw a consistent uptrend in downloads through the quarter, starting with 11K in the last week of September and peaking at 19K in the third week of November. Weekly active users also rose, starting at 85K and reaching a high of 127K in the final week of November.

Google Home, developed by Google LLC, experienced a fluctuating download pattern, with a notable spike to 46K in the third week of December. The app's weekly active users showed a steady increase from 137K to 155K by the end of December.

Amazon Shopping from Amazon Mobile LLC witnessed its highest downloads at 17K in mid-October, followed by a dip and then another increase to 20K in the last week of December. The app maintained a robust active user base, hovering around 420K to 460K throughout the quarter.

Woolworths Group's Everyday Rewards app showed a strong positive trend in both downloads and weekly active users. Downloads grew significantly from 7K to 27K in the third week of December, and active users increased from 130K to 186K in the same period.

Lastly, Wish: Shop and Save by Wish Inc. had an irregular download trajectory with a peak at 15K in the third week of November. The weekly active users for Wish began at 150K, peaked at 156K mid-quarter, and closed off the year at 146K.
